Edo Queens crowned NWFL Premiership Super Six champions

Edo Queens have officially secured the 2025/2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six title following a hard-fought goalless draw against Bayelsa Queens.

The newly crowned champions delivered stellar performances across the entire campaign, most notably highlighted by an explosive 6-2 victory on Matchday 3. By combining lethal attacking flair with impenetrable defensive steel, Edo Queens demonstrated their clear superiority, ultimately finishing at the summit of the table with 10 points.

Individual brilliance also took center stage during the awards ceremony. FC Robo Queens’ standout performer, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi, earned the prestigious Player of the Season title, whereas Abia Angels’ Fatima Oloko claimed the Goalkeeper of the Season award.

Meanwhile, the race for the Golden Boot ended in a deadlock, as Abasiofon Uwah of Rivers Angels and Atume Doosuur of Edo Queens shared the honor with 13 goals apiece. Additionally, Rivers Angels were recognized for their sportsmanship, taking home the Fair Play Award.

Rounding out the table, Bayelsa Queens secured second place with eight points, narrowly edging out Nasarawa Amazons on goal difference. Abia Angels concluded their campaign with six points, while Rivers Angels finished ahead of FC Robo Queens on goal difference, both ending with four points.

Looking ahead, the success of the champions provides a perfect springboard for international competition. Having clinched the title, Edo Queens will now represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Burkina Faso, which are set to take place from August 13 to September 5.

As the team prepares for this continental challenge, they aim to secure a coveted spot in the CAF Women’s Champions League, moving them one step closer to their ultimate dream of qualifying for the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
