Super Falcons have been placed in Group C of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), following the official draw released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The tournament will take place in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April 2026.
‎The reigning champions and record 10-time winners will compete against Zambia, Egypt, and Malawi.
‎In a statement published on CAF’s official website, the football body noted that Nigeria face a challenging start to their title defence. The statement highlighted that the Super Falcons will need to navigate a demanding group phase against opponents capable of springing surprises.
‎Across the tournament, the four groups present a competitive landscape. Group A consists of host nation Morocco alongside Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya.
‎ Group B features defending rivals South Africa, who will square off against Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and Tanzania. Group D brings together Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde in a battle for knockout qualification.
‎Group C has drawn particular attention due to the experience and quality of its teams. Nigeria’s long-standing dominance on the continent will be tested once again by Zambia, whose women’s team has risen rapidly in recent years. Egypt and Malawi will also be eager to upset the favourites and make a landmark run in the competition.
‎Morocco will host the tournament across several modern venues, including the Moulay Al Hassan Stadium, Rabat Al Madina Stadium, Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, and the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Fès, underlining the country’s growing status as a major hub for African football.
