Defending champions Real Madrid could not score in the first half as Lille triumphed with a penalty. Both teams failed to score in the second half, and Lille held on to their lead.
Liverpool 2 – 0 Bologna
Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian winger, made an assist for the first goal with a pinpoint cross for Mac. Pressure was on Liverpool as Ndoye nearly equalized in the 32nd minute. Salah then scored the second goal, becoming the first Liverpool player to score in five consecutive home games in European competition.
RB Leipzig 2 – 3 Juventus
Despite being reduced to 10 men, Juventus equalized in the second half as Dusan Vlahovic raised his team’s spirits with two goals. Conceicao netted the third goal for the Serie A champions. Leipzig, the host, ended the match with two goals.
