As the countdown to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations gathers pace, Nigeria’s Super Falcons will sharpen their edge at a high-profile four-nation West African invitational tournament in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The competition, organised by the West African Football Union (WAFU) Zone B, will run from February 27 to March 7, 2026, with Nigeria confirming participation alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Ghana and Senegal. All four teams have already secured qualification for WAFCON 2026, ensuring a fiercely contested tournament.
With the WAFCON finals set to begin just ten days after the Abidjan event, the mini-tournament is expected to provide a crucial competitive platform for the participating teams ahead of the continental showpiece in Morocco.
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will take place from March 17 to April 3, 2026, across venues in Rabat, Casablanca and Fez.
Meanwhile, Nigeria have been drawn into Group C, where the ten-time champions will face Zambia, Egypt and tournament debutants Malawi. The Super Falcons will head into the competition as the most decorated team in the tournament’s history, having lifted the trophy a record ten times.
Beyond continental glory, the stakes will be high in Morocco, as the four semi-finalists will earn automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
