Erling Haaland etched his name into Manchester derby folklore on Saturday, becoming the outright top scorer in Premier League history between Manchester City and Manchester United after netting the only goal in a 1-0 away win at Old Trafford a victory City somehow managed to secure with ten men, a clean sheet, and a single strike to show for it.
Reduced to ten players just 23 minutes in after Phil Foden’s red card, City still traveled to their fiercest rivals’ home ground, shut United out completely, and made their one clear chance count.

Eric Cantona needed just six Manchester derbies to reach eight goals, missing only his very first appearance in the fixture before scoring in nearly every meeting that followed, including twice in back-to-back games during the 1993-94 season.
Agüero’s eight goals came across a marathon 21 appearances in the fixture, with his best return a brace managed in two separate games, a reflection of his long City career rather than a prolific strike rate.
Rooney, meanwhile, built his tally gradually across an entire United career spanning over a decade at Old Trafford and the Etihad.
