Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella has joined Real Madrid on a permanent transfer.

The 27 year old signed a six-year deal with the Spanish giants for a fee of £47.5m plus £4.3m in add-ons, which could rise to £51.8m in total.

Cucurella impressed during his time at Stamford Bridge. He regularly featured for the Spanish national team and helped Spain win the UEFA European Championships in 2024.

Chelsea Football Club issued a statement thanking the player: “Everyone at Chelsea FC thanks Marc for his efforts during his time at the club and for the role he played in our recent achievements. We wish him every success as he begins the next stage of his career.”

Cucurella joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 from Brighton & Hove Albion. He contributed to the team that lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup last year.

Cucurella currently represents Spain at the World Cup. Spain face their first Group H match against Cape Verde on Monday.

Meanwhile, incoming Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has enjoyed a busy summer. The club has already secured deals for Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Bernardo Silva. Mourinho will officially start work at his new club next month.
