‎Spain and France have booked their tickets to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, underlining their status as powerhouses in women’s football.

‎The reigning world champions Spain produced a dominant display, thrashing Iceland 6-1 to clinch first place in their qualifying group and secure automatic qualification.

Vicky López opened the scoring and netted a brace, while Edna Imade, Salma Paralluelo, Clàudia Pina, and Aitana Bonmatí all found the net in a goal-laden victory that highlighted Spain’s attacking depth and quality.

‎ France also celebrated qualification. Melvine Malard scored the decisive goal as the French secured a hard-fought 1-0 home win over the Republic of Ireland. This result marks France’s fifth consecutive appearance at the World Cup finals.

‎Meanwhile, European champions England missed out on automatic qualification despite a convincing 3-0 victory over Ukraine. The Lionesses, who suffered a defeat to Spain in the previous match, finished second in their group and must now navigate the play-offs to reach Brazil.

‎As defending champions, Spain enter the 2027 tournament aiming to defend the title they dramatically won in 2023 by defeating England in the final.

‎Historically, the United States dominated recent editions, lifting the trophy in 2019 and 2015, while Germany claimed back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2007. Japan triumphed in 2011, continuing a trend of competitive excellence among the world’s top nations.
